Aims of the Society

The Southern African Society for Horticultural Science (SASHS) was founded in 1989 and is a scientific society that promotes the advancement of horticultural science.  The society provides a platform for scientists in Southern Africa, where research-based publications, resources and information are shared and networking is encouraged.

  • To promote horticultural science and related research through purposeful scientific communication.
  • To hold regular meetings, symposia, scientific and popular seminars, workshops, courses and congresses to facilitate discussions and demonstrations.
  • To support a scientific journal of the highest possible standard, and to encourage proactive communication through the exchange of practical hints, freedom of speech, and the bringing together of different interest groups.
