Challenges and Advances in Crop Irrigation across South Africa

SASHS organized a special session at the Combined Congress in 2025 on Challenges and Advances in Crop Irrigation across South Africa. Invited speakers addressed current advances in irrigation and irrigation during drought and water scarcity. Invited speakers included Karen van der Westhuizen, Stephan Schoeman, Emma Crakeek and Stephanie Midgley. The day concluded with a visit to Westfalia Fruit Estate, where the participants were shown avocado orchards under low flow drip and conventional drip.
